Four days after my ex-boyfriend left me for another girl, I hopped on a plane to visit my family in Yankton, South Dakota. Surprisingly, these 7 days spent in a small mid western town cured my broken heart beyond belief. As you journey through my thoughts and feelings experienced throughout the week, I encourage you to listen to the songs listed. Each song expresses what I hope the pictures capture.

Moments in time that many just look over and dismiss as a fleeting feeling, German photographer Josh Kern has captured our attention with his awe-inspiring images on film. Some may overlook these feelings in the moment, move on to the next face, the next motion, the next word that seems to distract from the importance of this second, of right now. We live our lives too fast to realize the emotion and reality in everyday. I am forever envious of people like Josh, who are able to stop, realize, and snap a photo. Here’s a collection of some of his favorite pieces paired with a song that captures the energy. full playlist on Spotify here
A month of the WEIRDEST weather I’ve ever experienced (Australia what’s up), bad decisions, not enough sleep, and more than enough corn chips. Way too many corn chips.
Set to a backdrop of the strangest assortment of music, this is February – a hazy, dazed mess of salt, soupy days, drizzling rain, chaotic hair and low cuts.
