Adventures in North Park (playlist + video)

The other day Ash and I (Kyla) went down to the market in North Park, spread some love by giving strangers sunflowers, watched the sun set from the roof of a parking garage, and just explored around with some friends (Ella, Julian, and Carlos/Curtis) . Here’s a lil’ something I stitched together from the adventure, with a playlist of music that fit the mood.

Like Lightning and Sipping Soda – An Interview with Lightning Cola

For the wild-wave-washed-dreamers of Lightning Cola, it’s all about passion; each song a moment, feelings that describe them as a whole. A genuine, quiet group, the band’s fast songs and loud lyrics make up for the shy exterior. Members Jordan Graham, Nathan Blake, and iconic brothers Niko and Xander Sitaras all coexist with individuality that immediately sets them apart.

“Be My Show” – Release Of Maadwest’s Duet Video

Capturing the perfect scenery for a music video is hard to do, but that is exactly what Maadwest from L.A. did with their brand new video for their song “Be My Show”. This duet sang by Tipper Newton and frontman Matty McNamara, is the second song off their LP “I Can’t Believe We’re All Idiots”, filmed in the always beautiful Yosemite National Park. The video is filmed by Mikai Karl, who travels and captures beauty in any setting, with a relaxing track.

"Like A Puzzle Piece" – An Interview With The Members Of Waldo

In terms of local music, there are so many different genre’s out there, it’s as diverse as the world we live in today. I’ve never thought about it in this light, but music is like cooking, some of the most unlikely combinations end up being the new best thing. San Diego band, Waldo, is breaking boundaries and claiming a place in the music scene with their unique and unreplicable sound, which they claim as “spaghetti skhlaw,” and live music mojo.
